A portion of the Manhattan island might become an amusement park - pay, park and have fun.  Pay extra if you come to the city by a vehicle. Some of the obvious benefits are:  less air pollution, less gas wasted during a stand-still traffic, less traffic, less agitation for both pedestrians and drivers, more walking is better for health.  But walking takes longer you say - NOT, longer than your sitting-in-traffic time!  For a detailed proposal read the nydailynews.com article and make your own decisions but think about the future, too.

Con Edison is under heat in two ways.  It's getting hotter and the system may not handle the load as the ACs that are being turned on.  Customers are worried about possible situations, similar to the last summer's outages, when Queens residents were left without electricity, some for a full week.  The concern was raised after the power outages in parts of the Bronx and in the Yorkville part of Manhattan on 06/27/07 (press release).  However, Con Edison is doing more and is prepared better to serve its customers.  Please, visit customer central for more hints and tips.

In the five boroughs of the city, the number of smokers is down by nearly 20%, according to the study.  The press releases show demographics, charts and the statistics gathered on the subject.  While it is good news, we must still continue to educate people about the hazards of smoking and its side effects. Smoking Kills!
